The Cart Before the House

—  DELIBERATE DESIRES  —

Tuesday was one of those days that felt like three days stuffed into one.

My alarm went off far earlier than any reasonable person should be awake because I got in line at 4:35 a.m. at the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce to get a spot for the annual Scarecrow Invasion. Doors didn’t open until 10:00, which means yes — I willingly stood in line before dawn for a scarecrow spot!

On my lunch break, Tom picked me up, and in the middle of an already chaotic day, we did something wonderfully impractical:

We bought a golf cart.

Not because we already live in downtown Woodstock.
Not because we’ve already bought the house.
Not because every detail is neatly tied up.

Nope.

We bought the cart before the house.

And honestly? I kind of love that.

Her name is Bubbles, by the way — a champagne-colored beauty with tan and white seats — and she is officially adorable. Tom is even on board with the name, which feels like its own small victory.

There is probably a life lesson tucked inside all of this.

Sometimes, before the next chapter is fully in place, you get a glimpse of it anyway. A little sign. A little joy. A little reminder that you’re already leaning toward what comes next.

And sometimes that reminder arrives in the form of a champagne golf cart parked in your garage while your current house is still being shown.

Life doesn’t always unfold in perfect order.

Sometimes you put the cart before the house.

And maybe that’s okay.

Maybe sometimes believing in where you’re going is part of how you get there.

Design a life you love ~ deliberately.
