A Deliberate Detour to JINYA Ramen Bar — Kennesaw, Georgia

Tom and I had already been to JINYA Ramen Bar in Alpharetta, so when we found ourselves deciding where to go for dinner, we thought we’d give the Kennesaw location a try.
Sometimes the best detours aren’t about discovering something completely new.
Sometimes they’re about taking something you already know you like and seeing whether another stop can surprise you.
This one did.
The moment we walked in, I loved the atmosphere. Exposed brick, warm wood, dramatic lighting, greenery, and an enormous mural give the space that perfect mix of modern and cozy. And then there’s the glowing little reminder tucked into the greenery:
“Ramen is all the craze.”
Fair enough. We were ready.
Our waiter, Ryan, was fantastic from beginning to end — friendly, attentive, fun, and exactly the kind of person who can turn a good dinner into a memorable night.
Tom started with a Kamikaze, while I went with an Atlanta Hard Cider. Then came dinner.
Tom ordered his Tan Tan Men, rich, comforting ramen that JINYA does so well.
I decided to venture away from ramen and try something completely new for me: garlic rice with chicken.
And wow.
It arrived sizzling hot and was mixed right at the table — rice, chicken, garlic, and all that goodness coming together while the skillet was still steaming.
Absolutely delicious.
It’s one of those dishes I probably wouldn’t have ordered if I had played it safe, which made loving it even better.
Because occasionally, even dinner deserves a little courage.
We finished with green tea mochi, but apparently Ryan wasn’t quite ready to let our evening end there.
He surprised us with two Woo Woo shots.
And suddenly, there we were in Kennesaw, Georgia, raising two bright pink little glasses and feeling like we’d somehow managed to bring a tiny piece of Aruba home with us.
They were perfect.
So was the ending.
We walked in expecting a good bowl of ramen and ended up with one of those wonderfully easy evenings that reminds me why I love these little detours so much.
Great food.
A beautiful space.
A terrific waiter.
Something new on my plate.
And a completely unexpected toast at the end.
JINYA Kennesaw — we’ll be back.
Because sometimes a deliberate detour doesn’t have to take you very far.
Sometimes it’s just dinner on a Saturday night, a sizzling plate of garlic rice, and two little pink shots that make you grin.
And that’s more than enough.
Travel discerningly. Love deeply. Live deliberately.
The Deliberate Detour
Because the best destinations are the ones we choose deliberately.
