Long before we called it The Deliberate Detour, we were already taking them.
In 2016, one of those detours brought us to Cefalù, Sicily — a place of Mediterranean skies, old-world beauty and the unmistakable feeling that you had stepped somewhere wonderfully far from ordinary.
Looking back at this photograph now, I’m reminded that some of our favorite travel memories were made years before we ever thought about documenting them this way. We weren’t collecting content. We weren’t thinking about stories or destinations or what might someday become a brand.
We were simply living them.
And perhaps that is what makes these old photographs so special. They are little postcards from lives already lived — reminders of where we wandered, what caught our attention, and the moments we decided were worth stopping long enough to remember.
So, every now and then, The Deliberate Detour will look backward.
Detours Remembered.
Postcards from the Past.
Because some detours deserve another look.

The Deliberate Detour
Travel discerningly. Love deeply. Live deliberately.
